(which I normally ignore but this time I read them) that you shouldn't over tighten the valve. This jack was a replacement for a high quality shop jack that recently failed on me. I had just jacked the car up by the pumpkin and was getting the jack stands when the car just dropped back down. Yipes! Dunno but I may have been locking the valve down too hard all these years? Have yet to do an autopsy on the old jack to try and confirm what happened but I don't think the seals went because there is no leakage. I may have worn the valve out.
